Elisava MEATS has designed and built a 1:1 prototype of public space stand for of Òmnium Cultural, a non-profit organisation with more than 190,000 members that defends the civil rights and freedoms of Catalans, aiming to build an active, critical, integrative and civic society. The brief for a radical redesign of its public space stand includes the need to set up and de-rig the stand with basic tools and the need for all its elements to be transported in a conventional car. Espais Infints abides by these functional constraints while responding to the civic demand of using temporary architecture as a place-making device. This flexible system is designed to adapt to multiple, unforeseen situations, transforming an object into a place, foregrounding the relational dimension of temporary public spaces.
